AWS Billing Alarm
AWS Billing Alarm
After you create your own new AWS account it is advised to enable and create ‘Billing Alarm’. It can be set not only on overall estimated total, but also on estimated charges for every single AWS service you use. Estimated charges are calculated several times daily, so when costs exceeds the threshold you specified, it will be one of the first signal you revive.
‘Billing Alarm’ will complement reports that you can create in ‘AWS Billing > Budgets’ (reports about current and foretasted costs within planned budget).
How to create Billing Alarm
Bellow two articles explain the same process, second one is more unfriendly (pictures), first one is part of official documentation.
- Create a billing alarm to monitor your estimated AWS charges
- Setting up an Amazon CloudWatch Billing Alarm to Proactively Monitor Estimated Charges
